2 Weeks and it was a BIG day!

Tuesday was Emmerich's two week birthday. Part of me can't believe it has been two weeks and part of me feels like she's been around forever. She had a doctors appointment at 9:45.  Its amazing how hard it is to get out of the door with a newborn. Thank goodness that Paul is off on Tuesdays when her appointments roll around! She was awake for her appointment but was an excellent baby and cried very little (thank goodness). She has grown over an inch and has gained several ounces since her last visit. She still isn't quite back up to her birth weight (she was 7.5 today and weighed 7.8 at birth), so we have another weigh in next week on Tuesday but the doctor doesn't seem that worried because she's looking healthy in every other way. After seeing Dr. Sears we headed upstairs to the lab where they did the standard two week heel prick. Again, So thankful that Paul was there with me. He held her while they pricked her heel. She did great and cried very little. All of the nurses of course commented on how cute she was and about all of her hair. She is pretty stinkin cute!
After the doctor's appt she finally fell asleep and we took advantage of our sleeping beauty and stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up a few items (diapers being on the list of course). By then it was time for lunch so we stopped by Whataburger. She snoozed the whole time that we ate. Yes, I hate that my daughter's first two dining experiences are BBQ and Whataburger, however, I was thrilled to get out of the house and at this point I will take anything I can get! We then took a quick stop by the vet clinic to introduce her to the staff. Everyone was surprised at how tiny she was and how delicate her features were (I guess she looks bigger in pictures?) and they were happy to meet her.
After talking with the doctor, he suggested that we introduce a bottle of breast milk to her so that she would happily accept it when I wasn't available and so that Paul could help with one feeding in the middle of the night. So, Paul spent the afternoon sterilizing bottles and we gave it a go this afternoon. She took the bottle without any problems and we were excited that it went so well. That means that everything should go fine this weekend when Grandpa babysits so Paul and I can enjoy s brief evening out to celebrate our 5 year anniversary!

Whew what a day! I think we all exhausted. I think we will have an early bath and bedtime for all this evening.
