Country Dogs take a Dip

So those of you who have ventured down to Wharton know that we have a "creek" behind our house. Since we moved in it hasn't had a drop of water (we are in a drought after all). Well Monday it rained, it rained hard and low and behold we have a beautiful creek/pond just beyond our yard.
It makes for a beautiful view out of our back windows, but that's not the best part.
Those of you who know Millie well know that she is a water dog at heart and so of course she has done her fair share of swimming already. Even Jack joined in for a little dip. They think this is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Paul and I got a lot of enjoyment from calling them and watching them figure out how to get around the water (they either have to swim or go down a ways and use the bridge). So fun to watch them figure it out!

The burn ban was also lifted and so the giant neighborhood burn pile was burned this past weekend. It was still smoldering when I took these pics and M&J must have thought it was a good place to warm up after their dip in the water.

Smart pups for warming up or not so smart for playing in fire? Sometimes its hard to decide.
