Em amazes us more and more every day.
She's walking about 95% of the time now and can even get a slight run going. As one mom at in the children's section at the library observed, "She can really swing those hips" She's got kind of a sassy walk. :)
She's all about making new friends. With everyone, yes everyone. No one can call this child unfriendly.
Grocery store strangers, people in parking lots, librarians, and especially kids.
When she sees someone new she gets really excited and then says (sometimes yells), "HI!" Then she smiles and crinkles her nose, and very few are able to resist her charms. I think we may have a budding little politician on our hands.
She met a little friend at the library named Sadie and they played side by side at the play kitchen. Emmerich did try to close the plastic oven door on her hand though...and she pushed our neighbor (who is 2 and at least twice Emme's size) down when they were jumping on the trampoline the other day. Hmmm. I think this is a sign that we need to get out more. I've got a play date scheduled for Wednesday with Jed, Dr. Pohler and Toni's little boy who is 9 months old.
In other big news, we are going from two naps down to one. She might take two naps once a week. I fought it hard, real hard, but I think its time to give in. I didn't want to get rid of that morning nap because she really still needs the sleep and she's been kind of a grump-a-lumpagus without it. However, there are some benefits to only an afternoon nap. Such as story hour at the library on Mondays and I'm contemplating taking a yoga class in sugarland (they offer childcare) on Wednesday or Thursday mornings. For now we are putting her to bed really early (yes, earlier than we already did!) and praying that her afternoon naps get longer soon. Our sleep guru, Dr. Weisbluth says that should help, and he's been right so far, so fingers crossed!
She's still loving her books. In fact on a recent trip to new braunsfuls I bought her this fancy electronic toy that sings and makes noises. That entertained her for about 15 minutes and she looked at a flip book for about 30. Geez she's my child! Anyhow, here's an old video of her reading.
We took Em to the beach today. She hasn't been in quite a while and I have to say she is quite the fan. Lots of splashing and giggles. It was a perfect day. Just warm enough with lots of sunshine. The only unfortunate thing was the mosquitoes. Made me relive a camping trip I made with my dad one time in matagorda that was cut short because of swarming mosquitoes. We only stayed about an hour, but had a blast!
