Pinterest Recipie Review

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the website Pinterest. If you are, then you are probably as addicted as I am and can easily waste an hour or more of your time browsing pictures, etc. If you are not familiar with pinterest, then I suggest that you not try it unless you have some time on your hands. This is your fair warning - it is addictive.
For those of you who haven't been sucked into this blackhole, Pinterest is basically a website where people collect links that they are interested in. Kind of like a combination of saving magazine clippings and bookmarking on your computer. You can "pin" anything from ideas for decorating to recipes. You can also see other peoples' pins. If I'm looking for something different or interesting to make for dinner, it's my go to place.
Here are some of the things I've tried. Ratings included.
This was our Tuesday Night dinner - original recipe from pioneerwoman.com. Pineapple fried rice with pork chops. Rating 7. The grilled pineapple took it to a whole new level. I would have eaten this every night for dinner when I was pregnant and craving pineapple. This is also the only photo I can take credit for by the way.

5 ingredient Talapia.
Orignian recipie from rachel ray (http://www.rachaelraymag.com/recipes/rachael-ray-magazine-recipe-search/five-ingredient-recipes/parmesan-crusted-tilapia) ranking: 5
I made a few adjustments (substituted marjoram for parsly, added a little crused red pepper, added a small amount of panko bread crumbs and add a pat of butter on top when it cooks) new ranking: 8

Mustard rubbed roast beef. This was our new years eve main course at the beach. We had a little trouble getting it cooked just right, had it been the perfect medium rare...ranking 9
Excellent almost crunchy crust on top.

Crockpot Cashew Chicken
Chicken thighs are one of those things that kind of gross me out when cooking...No, I don't know why, its just one of those things

Citrus pound cake with cranberry sauce.
I made this to take with us to San Antonio over the holidays. I left it here in Wharton in the fridge along with the pumpkin cheesecake. I was devastated. However, the upside was having this for breakfast when I returned (and I didn't have to share it!). Did I mention the cranberry sauce has orange liquor in it? And yes, I had that for breakfast too. Don't judge.
Ranking: 9

This is a cake that you make in individual portions and cook in the microwave. Sound too good to be true? It is. Ranking: 3

Champagne cupcakes
We had these for new years eve too! Festive huh?
I totally botched the icing though...
And they tasted way way better on day 2...
Ranking: 6

  1. I did something similar to this the other day on my blog...with Pinterest recipes of course! You aren't lying about the black hole, but thankfully the Pinterest app keeps me occupied in the wee hours of the night when nursing :)
