I'm a little late on this post...last week was crazy!
On a side note about myself (stop reading and skip to the next paragraph if you don't want TMI)- I had an infection in my breast last week. Basically it was like having the flu combined with a ridiculously sore boob to boot. I felt absolutely horrible and there wasn't much to be done about it. I went to the doctor and she said that antibiotics were not a good idea because they were not good for Emmerich and that I would have to pump instead of nurse (which is totally conflicting from every bit of research I did - and it is making me reconsider my Wharton dr...) and that the best solution was to have Emmerich nurse more (which was really really painful) in order to get all of the clogged milk out. Very difficult since she didn't want to nurse at all on that side at all (apparently the taste changes). Anyhow it finally (after 4 days) cleared up and I am totally back to normal again. Thank goodness! Should any of you ladies experience mastitis in the future - call me - I have some tricks that I think actually worked well.
And to the more exciting part of this post...
Emmerich turned 8 months!
Her top left tooth has totally emerged, making a grand total of 3. Number 4 (top right) is visible under the surface and judging from the amount of drool happening around our house, it should be making an appearance very soon.
She easily pulls her legs underneath her now and can scoot backwards and in a circle but she hasn't figured out how to work her upper body to help her go forward yet. She did learn how to go from on her tummy to a sitting position which led to some trouble falling alseep during nap and night time. She would roll over and sit up and then just cry for a while. Thank goodness for our video monitor. It was funny looking a her sitting in the middle of the bed then 2 seconds later she would have gotten on her tummy, done a 180 and be sitting on the opposite side of the crib in the corner. She's like a little houdini.
And speaking of sleeping, we are still going on over a month of sleeping through the night (7pm to 7am). Even with the teething and new found skill of sitting up, she still sleeps really well. Only one night in over a month that was rough - I'll post about that one later. The napping has been really tough since the teething. We are averaging 40 minutes two to three times a day. That makes it really hard for me to get anything done. I think I've blow dried my hair twice in two weeks!
Lets see...other new skills include lots of babbling. She's talking up a storm with one syllable words. Still not identifying us as Mama and Dada but she does say "mama" when she is sad or upset. Maybe because she hears me say "mama's here" ?? My mom thinks she can say "hi" and she is sort of waving (or trying to sometimes). And today I swear she tried to say "puppy" I tried to capture it on camera but of course she wouldn't do it on command :)
Emmerich is a great eater! Our friend Lauren came to visit last Tuesday and was shocked at how much our little muchkin could pack away. An average menu includes 2 frozen ice cubes of fruit and oatmeal or yogurt for breakfast. Then for lunch and dinner I try to offer her atleast one serving from 3 food groups. She eats all kinds of veggies and fruits and some dairy (cheese, cottage cheese and yogurt) She also eats egg yolks and turkey (and I'll give her chicken tomorrow). She also had quinoa and we tried it too. All of this homemade babyfood making is helping us branch out too! She has started eating finger foods and is really good with her pincher grasp. She does great with bananas, I think it helps that they are sticky! This new method is super super messy but so precious to watch. I try to let her try to feed herself something atleast once a day. She loves rice teething biscuits too!
Other stats:
Weight: 16lbs?
Height: no idea...but many of her pants are high waters :)
diapers: size 3
clothes size: 6 months is pretty tight but 9 months are a little roomy. The 6-9 stuff that she has is fitting pretty well ;)
shoe size: 2-3
She is adorable & such a little girl! Brady is 3 months old & already weighs 13lbs...guess that's the difference between boys & girls. Way to go on sleeping through the night :)
