Baby Girl

As many of you already know from our very excited mass text messages, baby Schmitt is was officially dubbed a "she" last Thursday. Paul and I went for the ultrasound and anxiously waited while the technician moved through every part of her 10 inch little body. We got some great pics that are to be scanned later. My favorite happens to be of her little feet that were perfect with 10 little toes that are currently positioned right under my belly button. Her brain and heart looked like they were developing on target and everything she looks normal and healthy. It is truly amazing how the human body develops and that she already can hear everything around her and blink her little eyes. Watching her heart beat was incredible and really moving.
When it became time to check the sex, she became a little shy. I had to roll over on my side and the technician poked and pushed trying to get her to cooperate. I think I held my breath the entire time. Obviously she finally cooperated. Paul's first response? "We'd better start saving more money." He and I were both all grins as we waited for the doctor to check the heartbeat (about 140).
We are really excited about having a girl although it does seem a little surreal still. Paul has pledged to learn to braid hair and sweet friends have been more than generous in sharing some absolutely precious clothing and other items (Special thanks to Joanna who packed out my car today with lots of goodies).
Yea for girls!

  2. Not only can you go to Simon and Dave, you can come to me. After all, I did have a hand in raising what just might be, the perfect daughter. I even bet that Paul agrees.

Love the blog, keep 'em coming.
