Isn't She Lovely

Perfect in every way.

Big sister Emmerich is a BIG fan of Porter. She's getting used to the fact that she will be around for a while and is turning into a great big sister. She always wants to know where Porter is and what she is doing. She likes to do "tummy time" with P and even offers to share her toys every now and then. Of course she's had her not so lovely moments too and there is a lot of asking for Mommy but overall she's adjusting well.

I'll save the delivery story for another day. Let's just say that it wasn't quite as expected and that I have a whole new respect for what the human body can do without drugs.
Although Porter had a more dramatic entrance into the world than her sister, she is a very calm and easy to soothe baby. We really have been blessed with two sweet and beautiful girls. My recovery has also thankfully been very easy and we were home the afternoon after Porter arrived.

Porter looks a lot like Emmerich at this age. Her hair is actually a little lighter in the back than Em's. And luckily for Porter, she didn't inherit those two crazy cowlicks at the crown of her head like her sister. Her chin shape is a little different and she has a dimple in her chin. Neither Paul nor I have that, but my dad does, and of course the rest of the Schmitts have cheek dimples. I think her cheek bones may be different than Em's too, but only time will tell.  It is very obvious that they are sisters!

We were lucky enough to have help from both sets of grandparents for two weeks and that made life with a toddler and a newborn much more do-able. We are getting back into our routine and have even made it out for a couple of outings in Wharton, to Austin for the day for Lauren's shower (2.5 weeks) and we made our first trip to Rosenburg to the pumpkin patch today (3 weeks). Porter is a trooper and big sister is thankful that we can get out and about already.

I didn't know how incomplete our little family was until our sweet P's arrival. She is wonderful in every way. We couldn't be more thankful for our girls and each other.
And I should mention - I'm in love with matching outfits :)
