You Know You're In A Small Town When...

So I'm thinking I'm going to try and make this a regular post (sort of like a column). There are just too many new things I'm discovering about living in a small town not to share :)

Since Tuesdays are Paul's days off we always try and do something "fun" on those days to enjoy each other. This morning we had Emmerich's doctors appointment and as we were getting in the car we were talking about some things we needed to take care of around the house, etc and were trying to figure out what to do.
And are you ready for our big exciting idea?
We decided to go eat at the new Denny's (it opened a couple of weeks ago). And the best part?

We were actually excited about eating at Denny's.

Did I mention that 3 months ago I would have told you that I hated Denny's and I hadn't been in one since before college? My how things change.
We sat down and the lovely Deborah took our order. She had definitely been a smoker since she was 12 but she was incredibly lovely and friendly. We got our food in a flash and it actually tasted great AND the place was clean (not every place in Wharton qualifies as clean so this was a nice surprise).
Then we got the bill and it was just over $10. We didn't just order coffee and a muffin friends. No I had oatmeal with cranberries and apples, a side of fruit and a side of turkey bacon and Paul had pancakes, eggs, toast and bacon...yes for $10. You can't even get two lattes at Starbucks for that price (not that I wouldn't kill for a chai tea latte on many a morning and I would gladly welcome Starbucks to our little community with open arms (but I don't have my hopes up on that one any time soon)).
I might venture out to say that our Denny's dining experience was in the top two dining experiences we've had in the city of Wharton since arriving. Number one being BBQ (of course). So if you are planning a trip to see us soon, be ready to broaden you horizons and to experience Denny's. Really - its not that bad!
