Its hard to believe that two months have come and gone for Miss Emmerich. She is growing and changing every day!
Em had her 2 month check up with Dr. Sears today and is looking healthy. She is 22.5 inches long (75th percentile) and 9.6 lbs (25th percentile). He isn't thrilled with her weight but she's still in the healthy range and that works for me. Looks like our girl is long and skinny for now ;)
Other happenings include lots of smiles. She particularly likes it when we sing to her. For those few of you so privileged to have ever heard my singing voice - yes - she likes it when I sing too (I don't think her musical taste is too refined at this point). She is super smiley after she wakes up in the morning and it is my favorite time of day.
She is also "talking" up a storm. She and Paul have "conversations" every night that basically sound like this:
Paul: "Ba?"
Em: "Ba"
Paul: "Ba Ba?"
Em: "Baa"
(and repeat). Its hilarious and she gets a little side smirk on her face when they are talking ;)
She's also building up some strength in her neck and back. She holds her head up much better now and when she's on her tummy she lifts her entire butt and legs off of the ground and sways left to right. I think she'll be able to flip over soon!
She loves her play mat (thanks Harrison and Haven) and is happy spending time there looking at all of the toys that are attached.
Unfortunately she's not so keen on taking walks in her stroller which means my exercise has been limited to work out DVDs. Hopefully she will grow to enjoy them soon because there's only so many times I can fast forward through the part of the workout DVD that I hate :)
In other news we had a busy weekend. We visited Dad and Dianne on Friday evening (Did I mention Em is a great traveler? She sleeps the entire way to SA and back!). Then Saturday AM we traveled to Austin for Rachel Allen's baby shower (Baby Allen is scheduled to arrive that the end of December and I can't wait to meet him). I was so glad that lots of girlfriends got to meet Em. She was very well behaved at the party and was happy to get passed around. We then went to San Antonio and stopped by to see Becky and Steve and went to John and Lauren's downtown loft for dinner and to spend the night the evening. John and Lauren were brave to host a newborn and were wonderful. Then even sent us home with left overs (which we already devoured - yum)! Em also got to meet Brady and Haley and Ryan, Mary Pat and Evie (3). Evie was too precious with Emmerich. Its hard to believe they grow up so quickly! Paul and I felt like we were really on vacation and it was a very relaxing break!
