Pineapple oh Pineapple

I really like fruit. Strawberries, blackberries, green grapes and granny smith apples always being high on the list. However, there are some fruits that I always pick around or pass by. I could live without melons of all kind. Cantaloupe and honeydew do nothing for me and I think watermelon tastes like, well, water. When I order a fruit cut I always pick those out. Among those fruits that so often were picked around in my fruit cup was also pineapple. I never cared for it. At all.
However, something has happened over the last 7 months and now sometimes I catch myself thinking about it in the middle of the afternoon. Really? you ask...yes really.
HEB has a little stand where someone cuts up fresh pineapple and bags it daily in the store. Yes, I am aware that I could do this myself, but its just so darn convenient. It is this combination of convenience and craving that has created a problem for me.
I have eaten so much pineapple in the last month that my mouth literally got chapped in the corners from the tartness. I literally had to restrain myself for a whole week and not eat any pineapple and religiously apply chapstick so that my poor cracked lips could heal. This is sad, I know. But the good news? Lips are healed and a trip to HEB is scheduled for tomorrow...
